Officer Attached to Wetang’ula Dismissed from Police Service After Supreme Court Altercation

Moses Wetangula’s bodyguard has been dismissed from the National Police Service after an altercation at Supreme Court on Monday. Constable Simon Lonyang’, who served at the General Service Unit, was “dismissed” from the service on Tuesday ahead of his arraignment on charges of causing a disturbance. Watch: VIDEO: Raila and Police in Bitter Argument Outside the Supreme Court On Monday, Lonyang’ was disarmed and arrested after a bitter confrontation with Central Police Chief Robinson Thuku who tried to restrict him from entering the court compound with a pistol contrary to a no-arms-beyond-this-point poster. He was detained overnight on Monday at the Central Police Station before he was picked up by his seniors from General Service Unit, VIP protection unit for disciplinary process popularly known as orderly room proceedings. Mr Lonyang’ was issued with a dismissal letter and was later returned and locked up at the Central Police Station. He will be arraigned in court today. Ⓒ 2014 Nairobi Wire
