Several parts of the country are flooded due to heavy rains

The Department of Meteorology is warning of possible flooding in several parts of the country with the current rainfall expected to increase. 

The department predicts that rainfall will increase in the western, southwestern and central parts of the country, including the city of Nairobi, the southeast and the coast over the weekend until Monday. 

Counseling areas affected by floods include Nyeri, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Murang'a, Embu, Meru, Kirinyaga, Tharaka Nithi, Taita Taveta, Busia, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Nakuru, Baringo, Narok Migori. Other counties are Nandi, Trans Nzoia, West Pokot, Uasin Gishu, Vihiga, Bungoma, Homa Bay, Busia, Kisumu, Siaya, Kakamega, Kajiado, Nakuru, Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River and Lamu. 

Residents of the area have been advised to be wary of water in rivers, lakes and dams as it is expected to increase. Floodwaters are likely to run into lowlands where it has not rained.
