41 suspects have been arraigned in court so far following arson cases at the school

The education ministry said 126 people, including students, had been arrested in connection with the school riots in recent days.

The ministry said it had arrested 302 people since January 2021, of which only 41 were arraigned in court.

The ministry has identified a number of issues that have contributed to the crisis, including overcrowding in schools, drug use, peer pressure, and student overcrowding.

Among the measures taken by the government in controlling the issue are the establishment of student behavior centers, re-examination of the boarding school system, addressing the issue of student overcrowding in schools as well as drug use among students.

The strategies of the ministry of education in conflict management in schools were unveiled in the national assembly on Thursday, by education committee chairman Florence Mutua following questions from lawmakers.

The question was asked by special MP Wilson Sossion.

Since the beginning of this year, the nation has witnessed a series of school burnings, with millions of property destroyed.

However, the education ministry said parents would pay for the school fees, with parents complaining that the money raised by school administrators was too expensive.
