Retired government spokesman Colonel Cyrus Oguna has urged Kenyans not to remain silent and to prosecute drivers who violate traffic rules.
As the Christmas season begins, Oguna pointed out that some drivers are only focusing on the money they will earn from the high number of transporters among Kenyans heading to rural areas.
He said due to the situation the drivers do not comply with road safety rules and thus endanger the lives of commuters.
“If the driver is speeding, why are you silent? Don't let a bad driver ruin your life, ”shouted Oguna.
“Your life is very important. Please talk about whether the vehicles you are traveling in are being driven arbitrarily, ”he told passengers as he launched a campaign to raise awareness at the main bus stations in Nairobi.
According to a government spokesman, some drivers do not adhere to the discipline of the ranks, they drive dangerous vehicles, they pass other vehicles in unauthorized areas, measures that increase road accidents.
He challenged commuters not to wait until the accident happened and then to explain how the driver was driving the car. He said sometimes there may not be time to talk.
Unexpectedly, on Tuesday Oguna boarded one transport vehicle after another preaching the existence of a high level of vigilance among road users in a campaign titled #SafetySabout.
