President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed ambassador Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri as chairman of the PSC.
The president announced the vacancy in a statement in the official gazette on August 24, following the death of his predecessor Stephen Kirogo on May 14 this year.
Lawmakers will now interview Anthony Mwaniki for approval or dismissal, according to a report on his suitability for the post. Of the 99 applicants, only 12 were listed for the post.
Muchiiri emerged the winner in an interview organized between November 10 and 11 this year.
Ambassador Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri is currently Kenya's ambassador to Cuba and also to Jamaica, Barbados, St. Petersburg. Kitts & Nevis, Guyana, Dominican Republic, and CARICOM.
He joined the civil service as an assistant inspector in government agencies, before becoming district commissioner and other responsibilities in the ministry of internal affairs, the ministry of information, planning and also in the ministry of foreign affairs.
President Kenyatta also appointed Tom Koyier and Caroline Lentupuru as members of the national gender commission.
