On Friday, a clash looms in Kakamega after the ANC vowed to disrupt an Azimio la Umoja conference in Kakamega that ODM leader Raila Odinga was expected to attend.
Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli convened the conference, which is anticipated to mobilize the Luhya population behind the Azimio Movement.
Raila stated yesterday that he will attend the Bukhungu Stadium gathering, just minutes after certain ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi's friends said the meeting would not take place.
"I'd like to inform you that there will be no gathering at Bukhungu Stadium on the 31st." Senator Cleophas Malala of Kakamega declared, "We don't want brokers in Luhya politics."
"The worst thing is that they'll say Raila Tosha," he continued. Why don't you travel to Kondele or Siaya and do it? Kakamega is off limits."
He was speaking at Mbale, where they were attending the Vihiga Cultural Festival for the 41st time. Mudavadi was in attendance, as was Ford Kenya's Moses Wetang'ula.
Mudavadi slammed Atwoli, claiming that the senior unionist is being used as a puppet by outsiders to split Luhya support.
"No, we're not going to do it." "A person who is not seeking an elective seat will not stand and declare that he wants to decide who will be the MP, Women's Representative, Governor, and President," Musalia added.
"Hatutaki wapimiwe hewa... Hatutaki wakenya wapimiwe hewa...
"We don't want Kenyans to be put on political ventilators," he added, adding that the country's leaders must be elected by Kenyans.
The meeting, according to Wetang'ula, could be a ruse to secure funds from particular sources.
"We're going to tell him (Atwoli) to stop or we're going to stop you," he said.
The Ford Kenya CEO alluded to those people for whom they had previously supported and who are now attempting to breach the community vote block by using "illegitimate" leaders.
"After failing to get entry through the entrance, they are now attempting to gain access through the window and the roof." "We want to inform them it's not going to work," he explained.
He claimed that the same forces were behind the development of a political party in Western Kenya to divide the people, a clear allusion to the Democratic Action Party of Kenya, which is linked to Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa.
Senator Cleophas Malala of Kakamega said that the Bukhungu meeting would be canceled since it was not sanctioned by Mudavadi.
Mudavadi stated that his political movements in 2022 will be surprising.
"If you think I'm predictable, I'm here to tell Kenyans that in 2022, I'm going to be incredibly unpredictable," he added without going into detail.
Raila and Deputy President William Ruto have been pursuing Musalia for a political pact for some time. He's publicly turned down their advances.
