President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga's supporters reject Tangatanga's latest attempt to modify the Political Parties (Amendment) Bill, 2021, in a major victory.

A total of 158 MPs voted against Kandara MP Alice Wahome's proposals, compared to 134 who voted in favor of the modifications.

Chapter Six of the Amendment Bill, supported by Majority Leader Amos Kimunya, was requested to be deleted by MP Alice Wahome.

Clause 6 lays out the steps for registering a coalition political party, which includes depositing a coalition agreement.

It also stipulates that a coalition party's governance must be in conformity with the Act's and regulations' rules governing coalition governance.

A coalition member may not be a member of another coalition, according to the provision.

Several Mps were hurt as a result of the commotion that erupted during the discussion.

The legislators resorted to physical conflict in order to obstruct the vote process.

Others were spotted tossing water bottles in protest of the current situation.

The activity of the house was halted for over five minutes before order was restored.

During the melee, Sigowet-Soin MP Kipsengeret Koros was injured in the face.

"We cannot tolerate being hurt in a House of Commons. Mr. Speaker, this is not going to happen "Koros, who was obviously hurt, remarked.

Following the ruckus that paralyzed the afternoon sitting, the session chair, Luanda MP Chris Omulele, called a 15-minute recess.
