Raila's Experience With Covid-19

What was intended to be the third anniversary of President Uhuru Kenyatta's historic handshake with Raila Odinga turned into a critical health worry for the ODM leader.

Raila was transported to Nairobi Hospital on March 9, 2021.

Dr. David Olunya, the former Prime Minister's senior physician, claimed the former Prime Minister was sent to hospital after complaining of weariness.

The 76-year-old had just returned from a five-day visit of the coastal area, where he had gathered support for his Building Bridges Initiative.

"On March 9, Raila went to The Nairobi Hospital for normal medical checks after feeling tired. He'd had a long campaign and needed some medical attention. Dr. Olunya, a specialist neurosurgeon, said the procedure went well.

The ODM chief had visited Turkana, Narok, and Busia without stopping before heading to Mombasa.

"We're keeping an eye on his health, and we're certain he'll be ready to address the nation soon." He assured fans that he was in high spirits.

As the nation battled a third wave of the epidemic, Raila's followers were in a panic, with positive ranging from 11 to 13%.

Raila said on April 1st, "I'm out, fellow Kenyans! God is a good God. Since I tested positive for Covid-19, I've got the option to leave my residence today."

Raila said he became gravely sick as a result of the condition.

"I've been in serious condition for the previous three weeks," he stated.

"After I went into the hospital, the physicians prescribed several medications for me to take for the next five days. Then I returned, and they gave me a cocktail of medicines "he said

When he experienced respiratory problems, he stated he was placed on oxygen for a period.

"I thank God for the healing, my medical staff for their dedication, and all of you for your never-ending prayers," he added.

Ida Odinga, Raila's wife, subsequently said that the family was terrified once Raila's health was made public.

She claimed her family had been inundated with calls from friends and relatives concerned about Raila's well-being.

"We were a little worried, but we thank God that Baba is in excellent spirits and good health." "As he continues to take a break from strenuous physical activities, we need your prayers," she stated during the interview.

Raila wasn't the only one who had to go to the hospital.

In June of last year, the former Prime Minister travelled discreetly to Dubai for minor surgery.

The abnormality in his back was discovered by doctors at a Dubai hospital.

His ODM party first said he was in DRC Congo for a virtual conference of the Pan African Conference on the Grand Inga Dam.

Raila's older brother, Oburu Odinga, had to certify the ex-Prime Minister's absence for medical care.

"Jakom [Raila] is out of the country undergoing a minor back surgery. It is not a major health problem, but rather a small one. On June 25, Oburu remarked, "He's OK."

On July 12, he returned to the United States.
